IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE OVERWRAPPING FOR YOUR COFFEE, BETTER USE THIS 100%-PAPER SOLUTION

Simplification is one of the fundamental principles of the sought-after eco-design by Eniter. Simplifying the package and using the least possible amount of material is one of the most efficient ways of making our industry more sustainable. But we know that these principles are sometimes incompatible with deep-rooted practices. One of them is the use of overwrapped solutions, commonly used for the packaging of ground coffee.

We believe that this second layer is unnecessary if there is already a good package that can offer a great image and can moreover protect the content from oxygen and moisture. However, knowing that there are companies that keep choosing the overwrapped system, we have created an interesting, 100%-recyclable solution.

An alternative with heat-sealable paper

Overwrapped packaging for ground coffee has been traditionally made of alternate polypropylene and paper layers, which made them impossible to recycle. Our proposal—for those who are not ready to stop using them just yet—is the use of a 100% heat-sealable layer. Advantages? We can highlight these three:

  • High-quality printing, which helps us offer an attractive packaging on the supermarket shelf.
  • It has an excellent machinability: it does not require great production changes.
  • It is entirely made up of paper and it is 100% recyclable, reason why it can be recycled in the paper and cardboard container.

More design, less materials

Those who defend the overwrapped packaging claim that it is a traditional solution, which provides prestige to the product. We are sure they are right. But we also know that if we work with new designs, we could totally avoid the use of this extra material, thus protecting both the prestige and the image.

Either way, if your company prefers to continue using the overwrapped solution, we offer you a new alternative: 100% paper; 100% recyclable.

THIS WAY, YOU CAN MAKE POPCORN IN THE MICROWAVE USING A 100%-PAPER PACKAGE

Aluminum-free. Plastic-free. We have commercialized a specific package made exclusively out of paper to make popcorn in the microwave-oven with excellent results. Even better than those used to date.

An ever-growing social demand

The growing eco-consciousness makes consumers demand efficient and sustainable solutions for products they buy.

This is way, in Eniter we have created eniWave, a 100%-paper, high-impact alternative to make popcorn in the microwave. A product that avoids the use of plastic and metalized materials. The crux of this package is the way the paper is processed so its inner part reaches a high-enough temperate to turn corn kernels into that delicious final product, which everybody loves.

This alternative has multiple advantages:

  • The eniWave packaging is manufactured exclusively from renewable paper.
  • Once they have reached the end of their shelf life, they can be deposited in the paper and cardboard container, because it can be turned into paper paste and be re-used as a commodity.
  • Moreover, since paper is biodegradable and compostable, it can also be recycled in the organic container if there are food remains inside.

Avoid the use of laminated aluminum

The market is more and more aware of the need to use easy-to-recycle packages. In this specific case, this is possible by eliminating the laminated aluminum. This metal, which is highly advantageous thanks to its recyclability, when used in tins or other types of packages is hard to recoverin the form of an extra layer in packages.

SEVEN REASONS WHY CHOOSING FLOWPACK SOLUTIONS MADE 100% OF PAPER FOR ENERGY BARS IS THE RIGHT CALL

The trend exists and it’s growing. Gym lovers have also developed that very specific muscle connected with eco-consciousness. This is why they have joined the consumer movement that demands a radical reduction of plastic, non-reusable packages. In order to meet these demands, Eniter has created innovative, sustainable solutions to wrap, protect and present energy or protein bars, which are so popular amongst sport lovers. One of these solutions is a 100% paper package. It is obviously processed in such a way that it offers the necessary barrier to protect the food inside.

A long list of advantages

Our flowpack packaging is designed to offer important advantages to the brands that choose it:

  1. It allows a high-quality printing, so the brand can keep an attractive and seller image.
  2. It offers high barrier, so the protection of the bar is the same as with other alternatives and its shelf life can be preserved.
  3. It is heat-sealable, which offers a very similar machinability to those materials that have been used so far.
  4. This package combines the advantages of the on-the-go solutions and the ecological aspect, which strengthens the presence of these foods in new channels, beyond the sporting world.
  5. It is 100% recyclable. The whole package can be turned into paper paste if the consumer recycles it—once empty—in the paper and cardboard container.
  6. If there are rests of food, it can also be recycled in the organic container, because this package is also compostable.
  7. The change from plastic to paper strengthens the emotional connection of the brand with the public that is demanding alternatives to the conventional packaging solutions.

BUTTER WRAPPING SOLUTIONS: SWITCHING FROM ALUMINUM TO PAPER

The first ones to request more sustainable food packages were the customers, in a more general way. However, more specifically, it was the on-premises channel that asked for a change of habits for a product as specific as butter. They challenged the sector: Is it really necessary to continue wrapping butter sticks in materials made up of aluminum and paper? Eniter offers a wrapping solution made 100% from paper, without aluminum and keeping the packaging conditions that butter needs.

Protection with excellent mechanic properties

In order to keep the butter unspoiled, we need to use a wrapping system, which is capable of resisting fat and moisture. This way, if refrigerated, the butter will stay fresh and it will not dry up. That’s basically it. What happens is that, so far, we had been using paper and aluminum together because of the mechanic advantages offered by the combination of both.

Given this, in Eniter we have created a wrapping solution made up 100% of paper, which is resistant to fat and moisture.

A sustainable, recyclable, compostable solution

This paper wrap is resistant to fat and moisture. We have also worked for this material to be as mechanically simple to use as aluminum solutions. Our aim is to provide customers with an ideal experience

Eniter’s proposal thus becomes a very valuable alternative in terms of sustainability, because the wrap can be recycled in the paper and cardboard container and become paper pulp once again. If there are food remains, we can recycle it in the organic container.

Less aluminum in complex packaging

Although aluminum is highly recyclable in solutions like food cans or beverages, when it is laminated and included in sliced complexes, it becomes, in practice, a virtually unrecoverable material. Under these circumstances, eliminating or substituting it necessary from a sustainable point of view.

THESE ARE THE PACKAGES MADE UP 100% OF PAPER IN FLOWPACK FOR CHOCOLATE AND OTHER BARS

More and more consumers demand the reduction of non-reusable plastics. The case of sweets and chocolate is no different. However, those who try to avoid the use of plastic do not want to give up the comforts it offers (having a sweet snack in the purse or bag to enjoy any time). Eniter offers chocolate producers and other bars that wish to switch to paper the following solution:

Flowpack made up 100% of paper without having to give up protection.

After many years of research together with food companies, Eniter has created a product that meets the aforementioned requirements: we have created a flexible, 100%-paper package for flowpack, which makes it a 100%-recyclable package that we can deposit in the paper and cardboard container. It can even be recycled in the organic container, since it is a compostable material.
It is likewise worth mentioning that it offers a high barrier to appropriately protect the food and to maintain its shelf life unaltered. And lastly, it is heat-sealable. In short, we can change the material by keeping the basic aspects required by the industrial process as well as the food itself.

More than just a trend

Using paper in a reasonable way is a decision that many companies are considering (and implementing). They know that, in order to reduce the environmental impact, we need time to test the new material. They are also aware that the introduction of compostable materials is ever more important. Therefore, leading this change shows that the company is innovative and conscious; that it is aware of the newest eco-friendly trends.
The companies that are already doing it know that many good things can happen when getting onboard. Are you still considering it? Contact us if you want more information.
