THIS IS WHAT THE REVOLUTION OF PRE-COOKED FOOD PACKAGES FOR MICROWAVE LOOKS LIKE: PET SEALABLE TO PET

Pre-cooked products, suitable for microwave heating, have a great added value and they are highly appreciated by consumers. Whether at home, in the office’s canteen, or in the factory, these individual, ready-to-heat meals help you save your most valuable asset: time. Therefore, any detail that makes it easier and practical to enjoy these products, contributes to the final added value of the product. a higher practicality.

A higher practicality packaging

In Eniter, we want this package to help the consumer enjoy a totally satisfactory experience. From beginning to end. This is why, first of all, our solution does not require the final consumer to puncture the lid before heating. Our solution is designed to autonomously alleviate the pressure created in the inside when the product’s temperature raises.

But it is also very interesting to see what happens next. Because if, for any reason, the consumer does not open the meal to consume it right after heating it, the lid seals back automatically, thus extending its shelf life: we will be able to heat it up and consume it later.

Pet sealed to Pet: the best possible recycling

Our proposal for pre-cooked products for microwave heating have one additional advantage: a single-PET-material lid made up of different layers and treated in such a way that it seals against a PET container, with the already-mentioned advantages.

It goes without saying that using the same material both for the container and for the lid makes the whole an easy-to-recycle package. Choosing PET is, moreover, the best option because it has an easier and more realistic recycling process, as demonstrated by the ECOEMBES rates. (Ecoembes is a Spanish environmental organization that promotes sustainability through recycling.)

IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE OVERWRAPPING FOR YOUR COFFEE, BETTER USE THIS 100%-PAPER SOLUTION

Simplification is one of the fundamental principles of the sought-after eco-design by Eniter. Simplifying the package and using the least possible amount of material is one of the most efficient ways of making our industry more sustainable. But we know that these principles are sometimes incompatible with deep-rooted practices. One of them is the use of overwrapped solutions, commonly used for the packaging of ground coffee.

We believe that this second layer is unnecessary if there is already a good package that can offer a great image and can moreover protect the content from oxygen and moisture. However, knowing that there are companies that keep choosing the overwrapped system, we have created an interesting, 100%-recyclable solution.

An alternative with heat-sealable paper

Overwrapped packaging for ground coffee has been traditionally made of alternate polypropylene and paper layers, which made them impossible to recycle. Our proposal—for those who are not ready to stop using them just yet—is the use of a 100% heat-sealable layer. Advantages? We can highlight these three:

  • High-quality printing, which helps us offer an attractive packaging on the supermarket shelf.
  • It has an excellent machinability: it does not require great production changes.
  • It is entirely made up of paper and it is 100% recyclable, reason why it can be recycled in the paper and cardboard container.

More design, less materials

Those who defend the overwrapped packaging claim that it is a traditional solution, which provides prestige to the product. We are sure they are right. But we also know that if we work with new designs, we could totally avoid the use of this extra material, thus protecting both the prestige and the image.

Either way, if your company prefers to continue using the overwrapped solution, we offer you a new alternative: 100% paper; 100% recyclable.

HOW TO REDUCE (a lot!) PLASTIC FROM CHOCOLATE DOYPACK (STAND UP POUCH)

There are moments in which food companies face apparently contradictory requirements. The chocolate producers, for example, have raised the need to combine these three demands:

  1. Meet the social demand of reducing plastic consumption and improving recyclability.
  2. Achieve the demanded attractive format from the distribution stage.
  3. Keep a production rate with materials that do not harm or slow down the speed of the machines.

As difficult as it may seem, in Eniter we have managed to meet all those demands with a doypack, exclusively designed to contain chocolate.

Reduce 60% of the amount of plastic used

To date, the manufacturers offered medium- and small-size doypack, which included plastic complexes, for chocolate. In Eniter, we present the new proposal with a different material: paper.

That’s right, we have created a complex, mainly made out of paper, which is capable of offering the same protection to the food as plastic and, at the same time, is recyclable. We just need to deposit the used packaging in the paper and cardboard container.

We have kept the window

Another one of the advantages of this packaging is that it allows the inclusion of a functional window, which is perfect for showing the product to the consumers. Droplets, granulated food, mini-portions, etc. Is there, businesswise, anything better than showing these delicious treats to the public? It goes without saying that the client decides the shape of the window: a star, a cloud or, of course, a heart for the most romantic occasions.

Reel and pre-made bags

We love the doypack, because of its practicality and popularity, but these packaging, mainly made of paper, can also be delivered in a reel or in other packaging formats, depending on our client’s needs.

THESE ARE THE PAPER PACKAGES FOR COLD CUTS STRINGS: WITH A PERFECT BARRIER AND WITHOUT FAT STAINS

envases para embutidos

Regardless of whether your product is a sausage, or sweet or spicy chorizo; to be consumed from the package or to add to a hot recipe… choosing the strings is always the right choice. If you choose a package 100% made of paper, it will be even better. Because, like we all know, the public opinion shows a growing preference for paper packages, provided their functionality is appropriate.

A long list of advantages

Our paper package for a string of cold cuts is excellent news for the most committed manufactures in the meat industry. First, because it allows them to show their commitment for sustainability. Also, because we can switch from the plastic package to this new proposal with no type of transformation in the productive processes.

This package offers up to five unique advantages:

  1. It always offers a flawless appearance, because paper has undergone a treatment against fat stains and, at the same time, it allows for a high-quality impression.
  2. It offers an optimal barrier, which guarantees the preservation of the sausages under excellent conditions.
  3. It is heat-sealable, so it can be included to the machinery that any manufacturer is using to date.
  4. The consumer can easily recycle it, by placing it in the paper and cardboard container, because every package can be re-converted into paper paste. In the event of there being food remains, they can also be recycled in the organic container, because they are compostable.
  5. If the manufacturer wishes for the product to be visible, the package can be manufactured with a transparent window, which could be presented in any way. In this case, the package would not be 100% paper, but it would still be a strong commitment to sustainability.

The demands to reduce the use of plastics is already out there. But investing in the inclusion of paper is much more than just listening to the demand: it is showing to what extent a company is aligned with its consumers and with a smart defense of ecology.

PACKAGES FOR MEAT PRODUCTS THAT EXCEED EXPECTATIONS: PEELABLE, RECYCLABLE AND RECYCLED

For meat pieces, hamburgers or sliced cold cuts, the PET punnet has been a classic in the sector for a long time. But it was missing a necessary complement: a lid that allows the creation of a 100%-recyclable component. And in Eniter we have done it!

A peelable lid made up of polyester

To date, the meat industry had been using polyethylene lids for the PET punnets. They protected the food from oxygen and allowed for the union of both pieces (punnet and lid). The more varied the materials used in the product, the harder it is to recycle. Therefore, we decided to look for a solution. And we have done it!

Our alternative is a single-material lid made up of two layers of polyester: one acts as barrier against the meat oxidation; the other is manufactured in such a way that it can seal the punnet and become a peelable lid for the final consumer. With this solution, we get (without giving up the appropriate preservation of the product) a single-material package for meat which is, subsequently, much easier to recycle.

Now also with recycled PET

When the client requires so, we manufacture these polyester layers, including a part of recycled materials in their composition.

Moreover, although Eniter does not manufacture or commercialize punnets, we work in cooperation with manufacturers that are bringing these sorts of packages to market, which are made of 100%-recycled PET. This way, we have joined forces and we can now offer the meat industry the possibility to use a recyclable package with a very high proportion of recycled material.

A PLANT-BASED COMPOSTABLE TRAY FOR YOUR SLICED PRODUCTS!

Your cold cuts and cheese are delicious. Any time is the right time to eat them. You are well aware that, if sliced, they are irresistible. Therefore, you offer them in trays, ready to open and enjoy. You can even add more value to your clients: the possibility to take them home in a fully-compostable package.

A compostable package sold on a thermoconformed tray and closing film.

In Eniter, we have created this package to provide more value to sliced products (be them cold cuts or cheese). It is a thermoconformed, compostable, plastic tray that closes with a lid that can be 100% made of film or of paper with window. The choice between paper of film for the lid will depend on the sensorial impressions that the producer wants to make the consumers feel. Both cases are totally compostable.

Their capacity to be turned into compost includes both the punnet and the closing layer, like adhesives and inks. This is why, once the consumer has enjoyed the product, the package can be easily deposited in the organic container.

Now also with plant-based plastics

A big share of compostable plastics come from renewable sources, at least partially. If you want to, we can also include this proposal… and certify it!

Re-feeding nature

Compostable packages are more and more popular among the public opinion for two main reasons.

  1. On the one hand, we have the comfort of being able to recycle them in the organic container with the rest of organic waste.
  2. On the other hand, there is an extended feeling, especially among the youngest consumers, that when choosing these packages, they are contributing to closing the circle of nature. Once this package is used, it will no longer be a waste and it will transform into compost to fertilize fields and re-initiate the food cycle.

Do you want to know more about this type of punnets? Let’s talk.

FIVE ADVANTAGES OF THE NEW COMPOSTABLE BIOPLASTICS FOR READY-TO-EAT MEALS

Many of the best-selling dishes in distribution—like hummus, salads or sushi—are eaten cold. Other—like pizza—are heated up, but not usually in their original packages. We present a more eco-friendly, sustainable solution for all of them. Choose it and make your brand reach the most demanding clients. These are thermoformed trays covered with a lid made up of paper or film and which form a totally compostable component.

An interesting list of advantages

This solution, proposed by Eniter, has characteristics that make it unbeatable in this segment:

  1. It is a compostable packaging. These means that, upon its use (with or without food scraps), it can be recycled in the organic container
  2. The whole package is compostable: the punnet and the closing layer, as well as the adhesives and inks used in its manufacturing.
  3. The package is made up of (totally or partially) plant-based plastics, this is, from renewable sources.
  4. From a functional and machinability point of view, this material offers very similar characteristics to the products used to date.
  5. Depending on the client’s needs, we can certify both the origin of materials and their capacity to produce compost.

The great advantage of getting ahead of regulations

Aside from the mentioned advantages, investing in these types of solutions allows companies to add more value to their brands. It is an undeniable commitment with the Planet’s future. It likewise helps avoiding moral conflicts for the clients: they will know they are contributing to suitability without having to give up their favorite ready-to-eat meals.

How much value do you think this would add to your brand? Shall we talk?

NOW RECYCLABLE DOYPACKS ALSO FOR NUTS, AND KEEPING THE BARRIER!

YOUR NUTS, NOW ALSO IN DOYPACK

At your company, you take great care of your nuts and want every family that brings them home to enjoy them fully. That is why you always seek packaging that provides a high barrier, ensuring that the texture, aroma, and flavour remain as fresh as the first day.

Until now, your requirements have needed less eco-friendly packaging, but Eniter offers you a different proposal. We present a recyclable package that also provides a high barrier—an essential detail for products as sensitive to external agents as yours.

Multiple Layers, One Material

The lightweight packaging that Eniter is now bringing to market has the following characteristics:

      •  It is composed of multiple layers of polypropylene. This monomaterial feature greatly enhances its recyclability.

      •  The combination of carefully studied different layers provides the high barrier needed to keep the organoleptic properties of nuts intact over time, thus preventing food waste.

      •  The various layers that make up the composite have different melting points. These differences are sufficient to produce bags within a relatively easy temperature range to manage without compromising the external appearance of the packaging.

      •  The outer layer is designed to allow for perfect printing.

In Search of the Perfect Format

This monomaterial and multilayer solution has an additional advantage: the ability to package in both flowpack and doypack formats. The outer layers of our solution can be offered with different melting points:

      •  If choosing to package in flowpack format, we will select a multilayer monomaterial that will melt at medium temperatures on the outside.

      •  If the choice is the doypack—currently favoured by distributors and consumers—we will use a composite whose outer layer supports very high melting points, perfect for this option.

      •  If opting for a doypack with a zipper closure, this option will also be fully recyclable.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR TEABAG SACHETS MORE SUSTAINABLE

Gourmets and purists prefer tea leaves, but most infusions and the rest of the tisane classics (chamomile, linden, mint) are sold in sachets. A matter of comfort.

Longer shelf-life, more intense aroma, compostable.

The compostable material used to produce the external sachet covering the teabag is very interesting from the product’s durability point of view, because it allows to keep the freshness, the aromas and the curative properties of these herbs longer. When throwing it away, the sachet can be recycled in the organic container.

These are the characteristics of the external sachet created by Eniter:

  • It is produced from plant-based bioplastics
  • It offers the correct barrier for a proper preservation of the product’s properties, protecting it from moisture and other environmental conditions
  • The teabag sachet is compostable, therefore, if so is the sachet, they can be recycled together in the organic container.

A certifiable product

When made available to the sector, leader companies have joined these proposals, which has been very well received by consumers.

The compostable material of the external sachet for infusions is manufactured in accordance with the UNE-EN 13432 European Standard and, if the client needs so, it can be certified. This means a great added value for the brand that invests in such a solution.

THIS WAY, YOU CAN MAKE POPCORN IN THE MICROWAVE USING A 100%-PAPER PACKAGE

Aluminum-free. Plastic-free. We have commercialized a specific package made exclusively out of paper to make popcorn in the microwave-oven with excellent results. Even better than those used to date.

An ever-growing social demand

The growing eco-consciousness makes consumers demand efficient and sustainable solutions for products they buy.

This is way, in Eniter we have created eniWave, a 100%-paper, high-impact alternative to make popcorn in the microwave. A product that avoids the use of plastic and metalized materials. The crux of this package is the way the paper is processed so its inner part reaches a high-enough temperate to turn corn kernels into that delicious final product, which everybody loves.

This alternative has multiple advantages:

  • The eniWave packaging is manufactured exclusively from renewable paper.
  • Once they have reached the end of their shelf life, they can be deposited in the paper and cardboard container, because it can be turned into paper paste and be re-used as a commodity.
  • Moreover, since paper is biodegradable and compostable, it can also be recycled in the organic container if there are food remains inside.

Avoid the use of laminated aluminum

The market is more and more aware of the need to use easy-to-recycle packages. In this specific case, this is possible by eliminating the laminated aluminum. This metal, which is highly advantageous thanks to its recyclability, when used in tins or other types of packages is hard to recoverin the form of an extra layer in packages.

Would you give eniWave a try? Let’s talk.
